You'll Stay Stuck Until You Do This

We all have those bad habits that we seem to just always fall back into.
Not making time to read the Bible.
Skipping the gym because you’re tired.
Ordering takeout because you forgot to meal prep.
Most advice is aimed at just treating the symptoms.
Wake up 10 minutes earlier so you can read your Bible.
Pack your gym clothes the day before and bring them to work.
Plan out your meals and shop in advance.
Treating the symptoms is okay, but that’s just putting a bandaid on a festering wound.
What is your festering wound? What is the root cause of these bad habits?
Because we’re humans, we know that the root of all bad habits is sin - a desire to serve yourself over God and others.
“There is great hope in seeing sin as your greatest problem…if my problem is sociological, psychological, or mental, I may or may never have a solution. But if my primary problem is sin, there is always a solution.” (J. Josh Smith, The Titus Ten)
While there’s value in treating the symptoms, we have to pull out the bad habits from it’s roots of sin.
Is lack of priority causing you to skip your Bible reading?
Is laziness causing you to skip the gym?
Is gluttony causing you to order takeout?
Is it something else?
Look seriously at your life.
God is the Great Physician, and when you make a commitment to fighting the sin your life, He will always supply you with the strength to overcome it.
