Do you want to live in a perfect world?

I know I sure would.

But we don’t.

Sadly.

And too often we don’t get everything we want.

If you’re someone wanting to lose weight, I bet you want these 3 things to happen:

  • Lose the weight by yesterday

  • Eat whatever you want

  • Never be hungry

Sounds nice, right? :)

But you know that isn’t reality.

You don’t need another reminder that…

Weight loss takes time, so be patient…

And you should eat your leans and greens...

You get that.

But what about that 3rd one?

Never be hungry.”

You probably don’t often think about that one…

But your mind subconsciously wants it.

I want to lose weight while never feeling hungry between meals.”

But let me challenge you on that one.

👉 You need to feel a little hungry in order to lose weight.

Here’s where I see most people go wrong…

  • They think “feeling hungry is a bad thing.” The moment you start feeling hungry, you must go find food.

  • They buy in to the false idea that healthy foods will prevent feeling hungry. A banana will certainly keep you fuller longer than a bag of chips, but that fullness will still run out at some point.

Sure, there’s a smart way of going about weight loss so that you’re not living in constant hunger.

But if you want to be successful with your weight loss…

Get comfortable being a little hungry.

Our American brains are so trained to immediately run to food.

Food is always available.

And it tastes good.

And feeling hungry doesn’t feel good.

So you’re entitled to make it go away immediately.

But have you ever thought of this?

👉 Hunger means your caloric deficit is working.

🚨 HERE’S WHY…SUPER IMPORTANT 🚨

When hunger sets in…

That means energy is low…

Which means your body has to dip into stored energy to keep going…

And stored energy is body fat…

And isn’t that what you’re trying to lose anyways?

What I’m NOT saying is to make your diet unnecessarily hard.

Suck it up and starve yourself.”

👉 But…it’s time you self-reflect on your habits.

  • Do I NEED to get food when I start feeling a little hungry?”

  • “Could I put up with 30-60 minutes of hunger before my next meal?”

  • “Can I exert some more self-control in my moments of weakness?”

  • “Could I plan ahead a little better?”

🔥 This would be my advice…

  • Tell your brain: “A little hunger is okay. I’ll survive, and fat loss is what I’m trying to achieve anyways.”

  • Plan ahead better: eat smaller, but more frequent meals throughout the day; focus each meal around lean protein, fiber, and high volume.

  • Take note of what times of day you frequently feel hungry. Assess why that may be the case, then adjust your plan appropriately.

✅ In the moment you feel hungry, follow these steps…

  • First, assess if the hunger is because you’re bored, craving something, or truly low on energy

  • Then, try to stick it out to the next planned meal

  • If you can’t make it, go drink water

  • If water isn’t enough, chew gum or suck on a mint

  • If gum isn’t enough, drink a zero calorie beverage/soda

  • If you made it this far, then finally measure out a small snack to make it to the next meal. A few, controlled calories is totally fine. BUT…don’t just eat a snack now without also troubleshooting the WHY. If you’re feeling so hungry that you physically can’t make it to the next meal, it’s time to adjust your diet plan.
