Avoiding Bad Isn’t Pursuing Good

Most strategies to get in shape are focused on avoiding bad.
Cut out sugar.
Cut out snacking.
Don’t sit so much.
Don’t get diabetes.
And while trying to avoid bad things does matter…
👉 It’s not the same as pursuing good things.
You can avoid sugar and still lack protein and vitamins.
You can avoid snacks and still overeat.
You can avoid laziness and still never train with discipline.
You can avoid diabetes and still feed other health problems.
❌ Avoiding bad is playing defense without offense.
✅ Real health is about building a temple.
🔥 A temple is built by intentionally adding things that strengthen you:
- Eating foods that supply vital nutrients
- Training your body with purpose
- Sleeping well
- Moving your body daily
- Practicing self-control
God never calls us to only avoid sin.
👉 Time and again, God calls us to also pursue righteousness.
“As for you, oh man of God, flee these [evil] things. Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith…”
(1 Timothy 6:11-12a)
See also Matthew 6:33, 2 Timothy 2:22, and basically the whole book of Proverbs :)
Anyone can build a life around “don’t do this” and “don’t do that.”
But the Christian life—and a healthy life—is about actively pursuing what is good.
Your body will not become strong because you avoided enough bad things.
It becomes strong when you consistently practice the right things.
Practicing the right things can be hard - knowing the right things you should do, how to make it make sense for your life, and being accountable to stay consistent.
👉 This is what 1:1 Coaching accomplishes for you.
I come alongside you, create the plan to build your body as a temple, and guide you on the journey.
