Are You Actually Honoring God With Your Body?

A client asked me the other day: “How do I know if I’m actually honoring God with my body?”

It’s a great question - “honoring God” can look a lot of different ways. The thing that separates regular behavior from God-honoring behavior is…

👉 Intent. Heart Posture.

The Bible is clear that it’s always been about the heart. For example, the Israelites were given a law that required certain behaviors. But verses like Psalm 51 show how God takes more delight in our hearts desiring Him than specific behaviors themselves. He desires behaviors motivated out of a love for Him, not just good acts alone.

So, how do you know if you have the right intent and heart posture for taking care of your body?

Ask yourself this - Would you still lose the weight if no one ever complimented you on it? If you never had any pictures to prove your hard work? If you didn’t have anyone in your corner cheering you on?

It’s hard. But your answer to that question shows your heart posture. It shows whether you value your body like God values your body.

👉 It shows whether you love God enough to do the right thing simply because it’s the right thing, not because you’re seeking a reward.

Are you simply just going through the motions to gain a temporary reward? Or is every area of your life an act of worship to make more of God?

As I write this, I’m feeling the conviction. So take some time, work through these feelings, keep chasing after the Lord, and bring your health and fitness along with you :)
